What’s the origin of your name?
It's pretty simple to be honest. My name is Dez. So it’s D to the Z. Pretty straightforward.

How long have you been rapping?
I’ve been rapping forever really. I started off freestyling but actually taking it seriously, probably 5-8 years. 

What got you into music?
I’ve always been around music, I come from a musical family. My pops used to make beats and my grandma would always play music around the house. Dudes like Marvin Gaye and the Isley brothers, that's what made me smooth. 

Have you ever had moments that let you know you’re on the right path with your music career?
Yeah I've had a couple of moments like that. My single “Bust It” was a hit on the radio. That really gave me confidence early on. Another big moment I had was opening up for Juelz Santana. It was wild. I snapped, shit was a movie

How would you describe your style?
I can’t really describe my style, I do a lot of different things. I started off freestyling and now Im messin with the melodies so I can do it all. Some artists that have a similar style would be Travis Scott, Valle, maybe Playboi Carti but I got my own signature style.

Who are some of your favorite artists?
Some artists that inspire me? Definitely Hov, Clipse, Wu-Tang, KRS- One, and Pharrel. N.E.R.D. is one of my favorite groups.

Any new projects to look out for in 2022? 
I’ve got a project called Mudrunners so be on the lookout for that. Besides that Im just gonna be droppin more videos and releasing more music.

What's one thing you want fans to understand about you?
I make music for me. I’ve been making music my whole life. I’ve got at least 1000 songs. So when you listen to my music it’s really me and I always got a story to tell.
